Zenzi respects your privacy. This policy explains what information Zenzi handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. It covers only Zenzi; other Element30 products have their own policies.
On-device AI
Zenzi's intelligent features — semantic search, face grouping, photo captions and descriptions, and quality ranking — run entirely on your Mac. The models are part of the app; your photos are never uploaded to a server for analysis.
Everything these features produce, including the faces Zenzi groups and the text it writes about your photos, stays on your Mac and is yours to edit or delete.
Google Drive
You can connect a Google Drive account so Zenzi can include the photos and videos stored there alongside the ones on your Mac. Connecting is optional, and you choose which account and which folders Zenzi may see.
When you connect, Zenzi requests access to your Google Drive so it can:
- List the folders and files in the location you pick
- Read and display your photos, videos, and their details
- Rename or write back changes to the specific files you ask it to
Your Drive files are read directly onto your Mac and shown to you there. Zenzi has no server, and your files and their contents are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
Limited Use
Zenzi's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide and improve the user-facing features described here, and for no other purpose.
Removing your data
You can disconnect a Google Drive source at any time from within Zenzi. Disconnecting deletes everything Zenzi cached from that source — thumbnails, extracted details, and analysis results — from your Mac. You can also revoke Zenzi's access entirely from your Google Account permissions page.
Maps and location
Zenzi can plot your photos on a map. To draw the map, the coordinates recorded in the photos you're viewing are sent to Google Maps. No other information about you or your photos is sent, and the photos themselves never leave your Mac.
This only happens when Location Services is turned on in Zenzi's settings. It is yours to switch off at any time, and with it off no coordinates are ever sent. Google's handling of map requests is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the app is used — anonymized, aggregated data such as which screens are opened and which features are used. This helps us decide what to improve.
Analytics events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device, not to your name, email, or any Google account. We do not use advertising, ad networks, or cross-site tracking, and we never sell this data. Google's handling of the data it receives is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
How your data is shared
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We do not share it with advertising networks, data brokers, or marketing services. Information leaves your device only in the specific ways described above, and only to provide the features you're using.
We may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Zenzi, our users, or the public.
Your choices
- Turn off or disconnect any data-sharing feature described above; each section explains how.
- Clear the information kept on your device by clearing your browser storage.
- Contact us with any question about how your data is handled.
Children's privacy
Zenzi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the product or in legal requirements. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and if we materially change how Google user data is handled, we'll seek your consent before the change applies to you.
